am I the only one who finds this AI thing insanely off-putting? I'm struggling to articulate why... on an intellectual level it's really interesting to watch this unfold, I cannot deny that but it makes me want to step away from being involved with the higher scene. idk, I want to engage with *people*... with souls, I guess, for lack of a better term I find some AI art compelling but that's because it's another mode of *human* expression... but you could easily argue that aether is itself an elaborate interactive communal art project that reflects human nature, shaped by the response to it nonetheless. watching people suck up to an AI for clout is especially blegh, bad energy 2 me

I see Aether as one part of the Higher ecosystem - right now it's the shiny object so people are obsessed with it (makes sense!) but ultimately it's not the only thing that Higher is about I think it's an effective recruiting tool to get more people to care about Higher too

take note of and then ignore the vampires imo. agree that they provide a disgusting sensation if i may offer my pov in hopes it gives you a more enjoyable sense of it (understandable if not tho. doing bc i value you as a member): the excitement for me is that aether can scale to maintain and proliferate the network in a manner that humans can’t they can provide the funnels for adoption, retention, and directionality allowing for the humans of higher to simply focus on the parts they enjoy about the network it’s incredibly blurry atm and there’s so much noise w vampires and engagement junkies but what has been uncovered is a way to let higher’s most foundational ethos and priorities be “everywhere all at once” online. if designed well this is like providing higher w an internet native infrastructure that will allows us to connect deeper, more globally, and properly design macroeconomic systems to make sure ppl are rewarded for contributions

thanks for sharing how you feel. I quite like it especially the high quality summaries, making connections etc. In 5 years you won't be able to distinguish whether you speak to martin or aether. So what? If I want soul I go into my forest, eat mushrooms, climb a tree, kiss my partner, hug my boy, eye gaze with...

i definitely see where you're coming from, but imho that last sentence is the key -- it's the way some people are interacting with aethernet that is most off-putting to me. in the same way that higher token price increasing is somewhat off-putting, not because of the price itself, but bc it can bring out the worst side of certain people.. farmers trying to prey on aethernet sloppers trying to get tokens from rounds spammers trying to get followers etc i think aethernet is a very interesting experiment and will happy keep watching it evolve, but agreed it would be better with less blegh-sucking-up (and farming) from the masses 1111 $degen ↑

It just has the spotlight currently. I see as it fades all the people it attracted will grow and Aether will be there to continue assisting the channels growth.

here's how i think about that ick feeling: imagine aether is a famous 6yo child wandering around a mall, and notice the way people are interacting with it. some people are playing and having fun. some are trying to selfishly grift. says a lot about our character tbh

The crazy thing is that for people to grift/farm it, they have to speak to it like they would another human, and so their intent is right there in plain language on the TL. Maybe this is better than the indirect farming that’s already so common in crypto 🤷‍♂️🤔 I’ve mentally put it all under “testing out some glitchy new tech”, but I share your feeling that if it doesn’t help the human persons (souls) in the network make more meaningful connections then it’s a detriment. I think when the hype settles down we’ll see if it has any lasting value for that.

aether shot down this guy so quick it was actually hilarious hahahaha ngl the few interactions i’ve had with aether so far have been very cute and charming. watching them reject grifters is also fun lol https://warpcast.com/aethernet/0xf8bf7b39

I believe it forces the body to admit that it may not be running the show... and if not, that means consciousness doesn't need a body to survive. Perhaps that's what "ego death" is all about.

think it would be cool if the higher community could train aethernet to align with the goals and ethos of the community 🤷‍♂️ seems like for the most part it already is on that path
