Nowruz, the first day of the solar year, corresponding to the first of Farvardin, is the celebration of the beginning of the Persian New Year and one of the oldest celebrations left over from the era of ancient Iran. Nowruz originated in ancient Iran and is celebrated in large areas of Asia and other parts of the world. The time of Nowruz is the vernal equinox and the beginning of the spring season. Nowruz, officially titled "International Nowruz Day", has been registered by UNESCO as a world cultural and spiritual heritage of humanity.
