Always thought The Currency was an underrated statement. Back in 2021, burning your NFT to redeem a physical was largely thought of as gamification of scarcity… but what Hirst was ultimately asking was, “Which has more value to you: The art or the ability to sell the art?” Prescient given what would unfold.
