It bothers me seeing people asking for a polymarket on base. Just go use polymarket, the whole point of building consumer-friendly apps is the chain literally should not matter. Biases are showing.

have you tried depositing on polymarket via polygon?

I partially agree. Like if it was rollups like Optimism vs Base, then yeah 100%. Even Arbitrum which is a little different or Linea or something which is even further in its own direction. I think it’s understandable though that some chains (sidechains, alt L1s, centralized L3s) people don’t want to use because they don’t trust their money there. Polygon is a good example of this with its high centralization and frequency of reorgs. Solana would probably be a negative for others with its regular down time and bridge risk to interact with Ethereum. Tron, TON, BSC, etc could all be contentious for that reason.

@baseddesigner.eth
maybe rather build a one click bridge straight to your polygon address on polymarket

Ya chain literally should not matter which is why it’s annoying to have to buy MATIC. Sponsored userOps can’t come soon enough

Just don’t wanna bridge to polygon. Ppl will ignore chains if they don’t feel it. However right now we are far away from it 😂

I think it’s fine for people to say “I don’t wanna have to buy MATIC to use Polymarket”

i think we will have good enough bridging soon that chain will be non existent, there are enough people working on this problem

Inter-chain user experience is not optimal yet. Rather than asking polymarket to switch chains, ask the L2’s to better cooperate on standards.

It's true, but I think some part of it is practical – people trying to use the Polymarket frame on FC and not having Polygon funds in their wallet, but having a lot of funds already on Base.

Agreed with the sentiment that chain should not matter but disagree that its incorrect for crypto-natives being in the wrong for wanting it to be on Base. Polymarket is a financial product - it's not $1 collects or free transactions. It's legitimately painful to not only bridge over USDC but also fund the wallet with MATIC to transact. You could make the case volume is not coming from crypto people but I would bet a lot that the vast majority is and think Polymarket could have magnitudes more volume on Base. I also think this would not be the case if there were other apps on Polygon doing the same - but in many ways feels like Polymarket is on an island over there when it doesn't need to be

I would, if they had a good and easy to use integrated bridge. I use nothing on Polygon and I'm not gonna bridge to use, don't care enough. I would use if it was on Base, OP or Arb, because that is where my liquidity is.

Curious about this as i havnt seen it yet - but have yiu come across an app that requires an external wallet (metamask, etc), and then when you need to interact with their contracts, looks at where you have eth amd prepackages up all the txns to bridge and interact? Eg, i have eth on base, but the app im interacting with has contracts deployed on polygon. The app looks at my connected address, see that i have eth on base, and preps the txns needed to bridge and makes it easyish so i dont have to do it all externally? Ideally with as few txns from my perspective as possible (could be xferring eth on base to custodial and then *hand wave* sponsor bridge to polygon, so i can start using it right now)

Can the onus for chain selection be placed on app developers to implement chain abstracting tech?

Their ux is pretty bad. Account abstraction could fix it. Perhaps it is easier on base?
