i'm a little frustrated with ppl taking cheap dunks on nouns

has any *centralized* NFT project with a comparable ~$50M spend exported more new tech, culture, and public goods funding? (maybe only exception is penguins) 

the fact that nouns has done much much more with actual *decentralized* governance (and all the inefficiencies that comes from that) makes it a remarkable example of maybe having hope that decentralized internet communities can do some real things (like building its own gov tools, winning dota tournaments, making feature length movies, etc).

ofc there is a lot to actually be critical of. for example value capture feels very low compared to what we've produced. but lumping nouns into the bucket of "look, another dao wasting money" is a cheap and lazy take

Important to keep some perspective. 

Individual brands spend billions of dollars per year marketing themselves. (~$300bn in North America in 2021)

$50m on growing a global brand (plus everything else Nouns does) isn’t too big. 

There are many brands you’ve never heard of that spend far more!
