L2 should have governance token 
L2 has governance token : 
1. Arbitrum (ARB) 
2. Optimism (OP) 
3. Core (CORE) 
4. zksync (ZK) 
5. binance smartchain (BSC) and etc. 

And when for BASE? I asking. 
Over 3 years since base released as L2.

Base = Coinbase and 
Smartchain = Binance (they has governance token) 
Governance token is an identity of the network even L1 has it. 
- Solana (sol) 
- Tron (trx) 
- bitcoin (btc) 
- doge (doge) and etc. 

L2 is a new networks based of L1 (Eth) 
And L2 should have identity token (governance token)

why not $coin?
I'm not sure that base need their own token.
base = coinbase, eth

Base is Ethereum, therefore the network token is $ETH
