I heard we’re publishing hard truths in $PUBLIC, so I wrote some words about the differences (as I see them) between the type of speculation you tend to see on solana vs @base. Agree or disagree? cc @yuri https://x.com/bigvibessss/status/1899638424329417029?s=46

disagree, feels like you are selectively comparing the bad stuff you see on solana with the good stuff you see on base - the same grok event had plenty of people on base also launching silly beta coins, tagging a bunch of different AIs in an extractive attempt to create some narrative, etc. - base also has its own history of extractive coins. e.g. $VVV had insider trading from the team of the literal top DEX on base. many of us got rugged on $ticker right here on FC. the first big meme on base, $BALD, was a rug. base's biggest meme, $BRETT, is a very weird cabal supply control situation. - solana also has plenty of actual real builder coins that are launched on pumpfun, as well as actual creative teams behind the memes there (what we would also call "builders" on base) generally i think "base vs solana" discourse is pretty tired and it feels like it reinforces the already pretty problematic tribalism in the crypto social layer

i'm not denying there's way more extraction and crime on solana, but i do think largely that's because they have much more liquidity and volume which increases the incentive and easiness to extract. i also do think base has a more positive-sum/builder-focused culture. but if it got to the scale that solana is at, it would 100% see a TON of crime and extraction, just like ethereum mainnet used to
