why do all venture product studios seem so mid?

are there good ones? is there any content on them?

mike speiser from sutter hill ventures is good at this, he incubated snowflake. that's the major venture studio success story

i think founders fund has also somewhat proven this with eg anduril, varda etc

in general though i think its kinda hard incentive misalignment, need maniacal founder from the beginning, etc

have seen a bunch of failed experiments firsthand (don’t want to name names) and the problem always was skin in the game
