This week, I built a passionate African community of developers on @base. 90 Developers 23 teams 17 qualified projects Half of those projects were built on @base The best part? A few of them got called by a serial investor who attended the demo pitch. The standout phrase from the devs was "Base = Ethereum Pro Max"

I'll be in Nairobi next-week representing @jessepollak & the @base team at the #codeafrica hacker house. The hacker house will be housing 100 advanced builders from across Africa between 6th and 9th May to build usable products onchain, by Africans, for the globe. Base is for Africans. Base is for everyone.

No Web3 security firm/team has been able to really break into the mainstream Crypto space. Whether that's because of poor marketing, or nicheness of the sub-industry is what I'm not sure of. But one certain thing is - it's a blue ocean for any web3 security team.

According to Electric Capital's latest Dev report, sub-saharan African devs account for 4% of Web3 developers around the globe. Nigeria contributes largely to that figure. However, there are currently only ~22k monthly active devs in the space - a 24% decrease from 2022.

Amounts lost to hacks 2022: $3.5Billion 2023: ~$1.5Billion It's one of two things: 1. Web3 security awareness is, at last, going mainstream; hence, more preventive measures & lesser hacks. 2. There was little to no money to hack, bcos of the bear market. Which is it?
