The key argument he makes hinges on a question: how many people buy a book without having seen a review or heard about it from friends/media? It also goes for other media. I think 95% of people don't really consume media like this. They rely on recommendations and media to inform their tastes. AI won't change that.

That being said. That 5% (ppl like Mat) that take chances on new media do become super-curators/mavens that disseminate information. It's hard to tell what's the most impactful here.
