Value of compassion and mercy: The Woman and the Thirsty Dog Once, a woman was walking in the desert when she saw a thirsty dog near a well. The dog was panting and licking the wet earth to quench its thirst. The woman, moved by the sight, took off her shoe, tied it to her scarf, and lowered it into the well to fetch water. She gave the water to the dog, which drank eagerly. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) narrated this story to his companions and said, "Allah forgave her sins because of this act of kindness." This hadith emphasizes the importance of showing compassion to all living beings, regardless of their size or significance. It teaches that small acts of kindness can lead to great rewards and forgiveness.
