Byzantine-tolerant decentralized cryptocurrency started in 2008 with the Satoshi whitepaper. Hashcash is 1997. ECash in the early 1980s. No meaningful investment in the space until after Bitcoin compared to multiple big investment cycles in AI.

no, this is a weak argument. anyone can determine their own version of "meaningful investment" so that's not even objective, just a no true scotsman. even if it were practically true that AI/crypto need multiple "meaningful investment" cycles to break out, two commodities trading for hedging or attention doesn't automatically guarantee currency, property rights, or even profit. we talking about "he said, she said" paper value. but so what? are we officially in "meaningful investment" for Bitcoin & Ethereum such that we can have our citadel or network state? or are those still on paper as well? seems like the crypto lobby "meaningfully invested" in electoral politics, is that anything besides a more confident trading floor? I'm running free weights from a meaningfully cheaper investment, and even with so many years of frothy hype, this application... it speaks for itself.

well you gotta get yourself out of his framing of CRYPTO to make it a weak argument because PAYMENTS has been around and had hella investment if you reduce llm to ai, then bitcoin was and is payment, but that’s not fully sound considering the store of value appreciation or the emergent value of llm as a universal interface
