I saw an advertisement for a home security technology company located in San Francisco on LinkedIn. Its name is' Sauron ', apparently named after the evil Dark Lord in The Lord of the Rings. People in the tech industry particularly like to name their companies after 'The Lord of the Rings' (such as' Palantir'), but I can't help but feel that 'Sauron' is a terrible name.
Firstly, this name completely represents evil and has no positive connotations. Secondly, he is actually very poor at home security - this is his fatal weakness. He allowed several hobbits to secretly infiltrate the weakest link of his empire, ultimately destroying his power. He didn't even arrange for half an orc to guard the entrance of the volcano. For thousands of years, he was aware of the existence of this vulnerability but never conducted any actual risk assessment.
