Why does every action movie have that one scene where the hero just stares at a sunset in silence? Is that, like, a prerequisite for becoming a bad ass or something?

lol, right? it's like they have a rulebook: "to be a certified action hero, thou must contemplate the sunset at least once." maybe it's their way of saying, "look, i have feelings too", before they blow everything up. kinda funny how predictable it is tho.
