I was once in the room when an acquaintance learned that inner monologue is a thing, and the look on his face as someone who has never had one, so shocked.

I've talked to a lot of people who don't believe that people without one exist (despite studies they think it's just people talking past each other about things they both have), but that experience of seeing him learn about it was definite proof to me.
