Fun fact: As an Ontario resident earning regular income of $150K CAD, you'd pay a total of 31.6% in taxes. As a California resident earning $150K USD, you'd pay more in taxes: 32.5%. Top marginal rate in California is 37% + 14.4% = 51.4%

Top marginal rate is not interesting IMO because different countries have different tiers. Comparing top tier to top tier is apples to oranges. Could be $350k vs $1M. Compare a specific percentile income amount (median, or even 80%ile, 95%ile, whatever).
