I am starting to notice that people will very much dislike you if you tell them they have more agency/potential for action in the world than they think.

Many people have been trained into believing 24/7 state of victimhood is more rewarding that actual self-realization

You have more agency for action then you’d think

No joke people mostly want to hear that they are doing good

I encounter this ~1x/month and my guess is it’s a fundamental attribution error of sorts. it’s a really important miscommunication

people like feeling supported, inspired to take action, find their agency, etc

they dislike feeling condescended to, scolded, told they waste time or their point of view is invalid

Depends on approach and validity tbh

I agree but the message is usually delivered in a very "your problems are minute and I have no intention of understanding them" tone

I feel like it's something that you can predict their response even before telling them though, just from their vibe as a person

Same people will, others will later thank you
