There have been many ancient civilizations in the Americas. From the Olmec civilization to the Aztec and Maya civilization. In all these civilizations, the use of the niqab was common both for ceremonies and as a death mask. The mask you see in the picture above belongs to the Olmec civilization and is made of jade. This mask is between 2500 and 2900 years old.
