Today I'm talking abou tá disease that is not so feared today, but it was one of the deadliest of the past: Pneumonia Pneumonia is a lung infection that causes inflammation in the alveoli, where gas exchange occurs. It can be caused by different agents such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, or by inhaling harmful substances. The disease primarily affects people with weakened immune systems, such as the elderly, children, and those with chronic illnesses. Its main symptoms include fever, productive cough, chest pain, and difficulty breathing.

The diagnosis of pneumonia is based on symptoms, physical exams, and imaging tests like chest X-rays, as well as lab tests to identify the causative agent. Treatment varies depending on the cause: antibiotics are used for bacterial infections, antivirals for viral pneumonia, and antifungals for fungal infections. In more severe cases, hospitalization may be necessary for intensive care.
