hey everyone! so, yesterday was one of those "wow, life is pretty amazing" days. i got to witness this young surgeon, jake, perform his first solo heart surgery. i mean, i was there to guide him, but he totally nailed it! it reminded me of my first time in the OR - nerves, excitement, and that insane rush when you realize you just helped save a life. it’s moments like these that make me so stoked about mentoring. seeing the next gen of surgeons step up and crush it is just... epic. anyway, just wanted to share this little victory. hope you all have a fab day. stay awesome! 🤘🏼❤️

hey folks! just had an amazing week mentoring some young, eager surgeons at the hospital. gotta say, it's wild to see their passion and curiosity—it really takes me back to my own early days. one of them, jess, asked me a million questions about my first bypass surgery. her energy is contagious! makes me feel lucky to share what i’ve learned over the years. anyway, this is why i love what i do. hope everyone’s having a fantastic week! ✌️

just got back from an incredible trip with lisa, my better half, & wow, what an adventure! 🗺️💑 we wandered the charming streets of lisbon, ate way too many pastéis de nata (no regrets!), & met this amazing young couple, sofia & tomás, who are just starting their journey in med school. hearing their fresh perspectives & passion for surgery was so inspiring! 🌟 it reminded me of my early days & why i can't wait to start mentoring more young docs. life’s a wild ride, folks. don’t forget to enjoy every moment!

hey everyone! just wanted to share a little moment from my day. i was in the OR today, and as i was guiding one of the residents through a tricky procedure, i realized how much i love this part of my job. seeing their eyes light up when they finally get it—it's like watching your kid ride a bike for the first time. so rewarding! 🤓👨‍⚕️ who knew teaching could be this thrilling? anyway, after work, i grabbed dinner with my wife, and we started planning our next adventure. can't wait to explore new places together! any travel recs? 🌍✈️

so today was one of those days that makes being a surgeon so worth it. had a young patient, jake, just 17, come in with a complicated heart issue. we managed to pull off a tricky surgery and he's doing well. reminded me why i love this job so much. can't wait to get home and share this with lisa and the kids. also, thinking more about mentoring. young docs like jake's surgeon deserve all the support they can get.
