convinced artists lean too much on the side "low supply, scarcity for my collectors" vs "minting to grow my supporter base".

other way to think of it: a big supporter base is what gets *any* supply to become valuable, not the other way around.

we also tend to forget how stylistically experimental most of the famous artists were they could be doing realist and surrealist work at the same timeframes at times 80 years later we see a curated slice of their lives and assume stagnation is the answer

I guess this pushes against “100 true fans” paradigm. But…is that just a default to account for the difficulty of moving patrons between walled gardens. Is “∞ collectors” the open web standard?

It is a delicate balance. I wait until the pent up ask is frustrating then release to meet half of the demand.

50000 $degen for this view! I have a huge backlog of works, and have decided to mint them a bit more freely this year 🔥🖤

A lot of artists using Zora do free open mints I think a lot of other NFT projects are expecting an eventual mass movement in popularity and price, so they might not really be doing it for the art, after all.

As others have said Very delicate line to walk I've seen the most successful artists usually have periods of low supply and then high supply and cater to it whatever their current collection's needs are They read the market and see where the demand is and fill as needed, curating their collections to fit the demand

From an artist point of view, it also doesn't feel good when you have minted quite a few pieces, but they stay in the "shelves". It can be quite devastating for our mental health. Sometimes it's hard to find the balance, but we're all learning as we go.
