They don't even look appealing in most cases. All the parts controlled by electronics instead of mechanics, an obscene amount of private data collection, and tons of gimmicks and gizmos with no real purpose aside from justifying a bloated price tag

Been looking through used Prius Prime’s by the way. Was surprised that the plugin hybrid is arguably easier on the environment than the plugins

Is that because of the extra rare earth mineral resources that go into making a battery for a new fully electric?

I barely ever had to fill up my 2012 Prius after moving to Colorado and going fully remote and commute-less ... Can only imagine the insane fuel efficiency of newer hybrid models

Also yes I also thought about doing a clanker Prius token lol

It’s that. The all electric battery has a big footprint. But it’s also the driving habits. The plugin hybrid goes 44 miles on electric before it kicking  into the traditional hybrid w gas. 

If commutes are short, you might not fill up your tank 4 times a year.  AND the newer ones have a solar panel add on. Not the most efficient for charging but it will charge the car up 8 hours or so in full sun.
