paul krugman calling for 200-300 bp cuts over the short term 👀 the most sensible, non-political move that wouldn’t scare the markets would be to cut 25 bps, plan to likely cut again in a month, and indicate 100+ bps cuts over the next 6-9 months https://youtu.be/Gu-GJUD4eHM?si=RMfKQ-qnGRxKV9HJ

we have the richest people and the biggest companies in the world begging to buy more from the current stock market leaders, and people think we're going into a recession? perhaps some day, but not yet. https://www.businessinsider.com/larry-ellison-elon-musk-jensen-huang-gpus-dinner-oracle-nvidia-2024-9

mars series pt.1 - gravity: 38% of earth - moons: Phobos & Deimos - orbital period (time around sun): 687 days - surface temp: -153 to 20°C, -225 to 70°F - because the atmosphere is so thin, heat easily escapes - standing on mars' equator at noon, it would be ~24°C (75°F) at your feet and ~0°C (32°F) at your head https://science.nasa.gov/mars/facts/

this is the equivalent to DC power. someone is going to invent the AI version of AC power and avoid this problem entirely https://x.com/tsarnick/status/1835113831435321799

perhaps hiding likes, recasts (and arguably even many replies) should be rare? let's think about this like a shopping mall - if you only allowed people to enter the mall if they proved they were going to buy something, malls would feel much more dead, leading to even fewer people interested in buying. merely having a lot of activity motivates consumption, even if most present aren't actually contributing. non-contributive behavior is not necessarily bad
