feeling increasingly disillusioned with crypto as an investment vehicle

anyone else feeling this way? how do you combat it? feeling hard to justify having half my networth in eth rn

i love eth and its culture, but any uptick in sentiment/activity will attract the worst participants and ruin it

I think the problems created by crypto are far outpacing the solutions it's supposed to offer.

Regulation can help deter bad actors but paradoxically it seems contrarian to the ethos of decentralized finance.

Maybe crypto will be a solution when we collectively lose faith in banks and governments?

I think we’ll see more benefit when people begin to seriously earn livings in the creator economy via crypto rails, especially in unbanked corners of the world. 

Then people won’t use it directly as an investment vehicle, but as an income vehicle with the opportunity for investment

I could see this happening sooner than banks and governments losing public trust.

Though AI shakes up a lot of what it means to both create and consume nowadays. I really do hope artists and creators are amongst the last to feel displaced as "work" is redefined in the next few years.

I will say as a very casual picture taker I've grown to really appreciate photographers of all fields. Particularly portraits of people because they show so much character in a single picture. But when I take pictures of myself or my family it's always the same staged smile 😆 nature photography too— it *feels* easy to take good scenic photos until you see what a pro can do. Very humbling!

All this to say maybe in making creativity more accessible, people will learn to appreciate other forms of art that artists have devoted to getting better at. That's the hope, at least.

Exactly, I think the creator economics can really speed up the timeline, though we’ll see what happens with the broader ecosystem as the political system is shaken up 

Yeah, agreed. I think it will be tough, because we’ll have to continue demonstrating the “human value” side of things, rather than purely quality. Sure, an AI can generate a “photo” of a mountain, but hearing the story of the photographer that climbed it ~feels~ much more human; the empathy and story evokes more emotion in the consumer 

But maybe I’m biased as a photographer 😂
