Unfortunately this set is pretty hard to find in the wild rn. Scalpers got their hands on them and are selling them for 2-3x retail price.

Roughly how much of a money sink would you estimate it is?

As in, if you spend $1000 on cards, what % can you recoup in secondary sales to sustain the hobby?

It depends on the set. Rn if you can find 151 at retail price it’s almost a guaranteed flip. Can resell it sealed for like 2-3x price or gamble on hitting some illustration rares and sell those on the after market. Can also get them graded if they are mint in hope of getting a 10 grade and then selling the card for 2-3x raw price.
