Godspeed. Perhaps the slightly trite but always true "this too shall pass". It does get better. You are not a bad parent. You will all be better off on the other side of this.

Started at 9 weeks for first one, second one got Covid at 5 weeks and slept through the night from thereafter with a little reinforcement.

Short answer is we let them cry it out. Took 2-3 nights with the first one. We paid for a course on here and found the material indispensable https://takingcarababies.com/

Basically they must sleep on their own day one

Check in every 5, 10, then 15 mins for 15 seconds only if baby is crying. If they’re sleeping don’t checkin.

But then lots of content helping you brace for it and why it will work.

I'd love to hear how this plays out

We explored/tried this when my son was 5 months old, but pretty much gave up after the first few hours

Fast forward 3 months and he mostly sleeps on his own from late evening until early more

Ofc just one data point, but certain rhythms might naturally emerge given the right time

Godspeed. 🙏  We should be doing the same with our daughter... but I just can't bear to do it consistently. 🥺 Maybe I'm the one that needs her nearby, not the other way around...
