Always blew my mind how cheap capital gains taxes were in Canada. If you just made $200k in capital gains in Ontario, you'd basically be paying 11.44% in taxes (compared to 18.65% in California for long term, 27.07% for short term!!).

Fun fact: As an Ontario resident earning regular income of $150K CAD, you'd pay a total of 31.6% in taxes. As a California resident earning $150K USD, you'd pay more in taxes: 32.5%.

Slightly less at $350K, $500K:
- Ontario: 42.8%, 46%
- California: 39%, 42.3%

Good post but the numbers looks bad when compared to other cities with much less income tax. Also yes Insurance is expense but vice versa is true for housing here in Canada
