Some helpful heuristics in @balajis.eth's recent piece: - Democrats have adopted Chinese tactics under the guise of preserving democracy - The Right gives Russia a pass; The Left gives China a pass - Democrats see themselves through the lens of the global American empire, the Right through the idea of a Republic.

Finishing the Skypiea arc on One Piece — not even to episode 200 yet and it’s so dang good. Glad I waited all these years so I can just watch it at my own pace.

The enlightenment which the bodhisattva supposedly foregoes is actually no enlightenment at all, for the bodhisattva rightly perceives that there can be no enlightenment without every other creature. In this way, the bodhisattva seeks enlightenment precisely by rejecting it.

It’s a truism that the biggest threat America faces is China, but it strikes me that our greatest threat is actually ourselves.

Religious dialogue can tend towards trying to identify the similarities between traditions in order to build cooperation and goodwill, but difference is just as essential for dialogue as similarity.

Recorded a podcast this morning — talked with a working class Midwestern practitioner of Zen. It was especially interesting to hear about the influx of Christians he’s seen at the local temple’s dharma talks. There is some fascinating Christian-Buddhist dialogue going on right now.

Does anyone know any psychology or cognitive science researchers working on brain entrainment? A colleague and I are looking to study brain entrainment in a clinical context, in hopes of ascertaining its effect on treatment outcomes. If you can connect me with someone, please message me. Thanks!

First issue of Damage Mag (damagemag.com) was worth the wait — trying to recover that American spirit of optimism and material abundance which could re-industrialize our nation. My main question is how re-industrialization works with a shrinking population and the rise of automation.

I’ve heard @vgr mention Farcaster before, but after watching @dwr.eth at the Network State conference, I decided to finally give it a try.
