Philosophy is defined by a period of before Kant, and after. Almost all work done afterwards is rooted in “Theory” and the core of left leaning politics today.

You can’t get to modern philosophy without going through Kant, who mentored Hegel, who inspired Marx. There’s a direct line of knowledge they all build on.
