i was meeting with a writer friend for dimsum, and he asked what my buddhist chaplaincy has to do with the /okbanger show or what I share on fc. he is a neurosurgeon who studied philosophy, and our conversation over har gow got right to the heart of things. what is the meaning of life, if there is any? what is our purpose?
i have affinity towards buddhism, and it is generalizable to principles of care, supporting agency, and witnessing. what can i do to help others towards their own paths of awakening, in whichever form they choose? what can i do to help those experience injustice, or are otherwise unseen/unheard?
on fc, i've been lucky to meet folks early on, and want to make sure folks are welcomed into their own experiences here. as a 1st gen US immigrant, triple minority, with a chronic health condition, who has experienced civil unrest and threats to her life--I do feel the need to stand up for others. not only bc of my chaplaincy vows, but bc i've felt what it's like to be on the outside looking in. 22 replies
