Vivek, Elon and Trump are trying to frame the H1B conversion as 'who is better', but the reason they like H1B staff is really about 'who can endure more'. It is incredibly hard to change jobs on a work visa. It's a whole huge legal process that many companies aren't willing to undertake. So H1B staff have to endure all sorts of abuse; bullying, low pay, legal threats, etc all to squeeze the most value out. Anyone who can easily change jobs will never tolerate those conditions.

You’re absolutely right, and the truth is, this situation only allows employers to gain more power and put individuals in exploitative conditions. Maybe a fundamental overhaul of immigration laws is necessary to protect human rights.

Agree! Immigration laws and work visas need an overhaul in the States. Personally I don't think it should be tied to specific jobs. Instead the country can prioritize visas for industries facing worker shortages.
