Yeah, true. Though the argument was software being behind hardware. I think in 2007 it was possible to build a decent touch screen phone but not nail the software.

longer discussion. APIs are liabilities and more or less irreversible. So in some cases market must be studied to understand developer use. Not per se a technological constraint.

apple was/is years ahead of everyone else but it still takes time to nail the software even when you have full control over hardware. 

first NFC chip in 2014, first developer API to use it in 2017. the list goes on.
