DAY 1 of my "No Sugar" challenge. Everyone I've talked with that cut out sugar experienced dramatic health benefits. I'm hoping for improvement in my sleep and better focus. Have you had a positive (or negative) effect from cutting out sugar? https://amerisleep.com/blog/sugar-and-sleep/

I've decreased my sugar intake for a while now, but I don't think I had sleep issues before that. One thing that happens is that you get used to reduced sweetness, so "normal" sugary foods taste too sweet after that. I still eat snacks like some cookies, but they are low sugar, so I am used to that now.

I've had an amazing reaction to cutting it out. I definitely have noticed an improvement in general energy levels, clarity of thought, and I lost a lot of weight pretty quickly after I cut it out (but I began my health journey really pretty overweight so ymmv). I still allow some natural sugars, but I honestly don't even crave it anymore.

That’s great! Excited to see your journey! I started cutting off sugar when my health report came back with a high blood glucose. It was hard at the beginning, but slowly I notice a better skin, less snacking habits and feeling good.

Are removing added sugar or trying to reduce overall?

My own experience has been amazing - but that’s because sugar is literally my kryptonite 😇

Both 😆 Getting started is hard, it's like kicking any other addictive substance. There will be withdrawal symptoms in the early days. Once you work past those though, reduced inflammation, less brain fog, weight reduction are on top of the list for me. Highly recommend this practice. The more serious you get about it, the more you will realize sugar and sweeteners are in damn near everything that comes premade. It's quite a rabbit hole.
