Update on the SEC vs. Coinbase The SEC requested a 28-day extension (to March 14, 2025) to file a response to Coinbase's petition for permission to file an appeal. Similar to the lawsuit between the SEC and Binance, the SEC said the newly formed crypto task force is a factor that could affect the outcome of the appeal as well as the entire lawsuit. There is no surprise because currently the SEC only has an Acting Chairman, while the official Chairman is still waiting for approval from the National Assembly.

South Korea will allow charities, universities and exchanges to sell crypto they receive in donations or from trading fees to pay salaries, taxes and operating expenses, starting in the second quarter of this year. By the second half of the year, about 3,500 listed companies and professional investment institutions will be allowed to open real-name accounts for crypto trading on a pilot basis.

Charles Schwab Company expands trading for stocks & ETFs to 24 hours/day, 5 days/week... no trading on weekends but still better than before. We often receive shocking news outside of stock trading hours, and the crypto market is always heavily affected. It is now 2025, transactions take place online, order matching is also automatic, there is no reason why the stock exchange cannot be open 24/7.

Kentucky became the latest US state to propose a Bitcoin reserve bill, allowing up to 10% of state reserves to be allocated to digital assets such as Bitcoin. There are currently 20 states proposing Bitcoin reserve bills.

The United States is considering a bill to regulate stablecoins, including a two-year ban on stablecoins backed only by self-issued digital assets. The Ministry of Finance is tasked with assessing the risks of these stablecoins to build a legal framework that ensures market stability and safety.
