More recordings today. Still can't believe I get this whole room to myself. Not just one, but *two* grand pianos. πŸ˜‚

June of this year is when TEIA and teia.cafe makes their big showcase at #Tezcon! The site revamp on our end is coming along nicely. I see a lot of artists complaining about Artificial Intelligence and copyright lately but did you know that NFTs are one of the few places that tech platforms legally aren't allowed to touch? Because the terms of how it can be used hasn't been defined yet, most places just don't touch them, even now. So - this is still the best opportunity for artists to take control of the situation by declaring the terms themselves - and you can now do it through TEIA (teia.art), which is a neutral non-profit owned by the open-source community itself - there are no startup founders or VCs to worry about because the process literally runs on its own. Yeah, I get that crypto/NFTs has a bad rep these days, but the idea of decentralization is still very much sound, and badly needed more than ever. It's now or never, folks!

Sent by a friend. I sold off all my DOGE (the crypto, not the new thing) as soon as Elon started meddling with it. How's Dogecoin doing now? Well, development on the project pretty much stopped - and speculators and MBA types replaced all the devs and folks who were actually putting in work behind the technology itself. I sometimes think had they managed to combine their meme culture with NFTs, DOGE could've been in an entirely new place now. (I sold off all of it as soon as I heard Elon was getting "involved" - I know what that means having seen his previous escapades before.) Poor Kabotsu. She could've been something, you know? 😒

After switching over to DeepSeek for a few weeks, I've noticed that it's a lot more thorough than GPT is - GPT will often omit parts of the code you give it and it "breaks" the original code you give it - making it very frustrating to work with at times. I get that AI stuff is "hard" but working with GPT sometimes feels like working with a lazy-ass American who doesn't give af. No offense, of course. 🀣 Either way, this is free, and it is pretty much better in almost every way. Yeah, DS gets lots of things wrong all the time, too. But as they say, the cover-up is always worse than the mistake itself, more often than not.

Back to doing UI/UX work again - I guess I'm not too bad at it now but boy is it tedious sometimes. Asking the important questions - like, how does this button make you *feel*? I mean, really. This is really important! 🀣

At http://teia.cafe we're currently experimenting with the idea of displaying the baker that the artist delegates to, as a way to encourage collaboration between the two groups - which we've been wanting to do for a while. It's sort of a quasi-sponsorship - but also a way for audiences to get exposed to the baking community on #Tezos through artists that they've come to trust over time. What do you think? If the interest is there, we can think about building more features on top of this idea. Artists need money. Bakers have money, and is one of the few groups out there that is actually sympathetic to crypto art and NFTs. I think there needs to be closer relationships between the two groups and this might be one way to do it. πŸ€”

The teia.cafe revamp is coming along nicely. I think staying focused on music really helped the site take shape. We worked on a bajillion different features in the previous site but we're now gonna take the best stuff and integrate them together in a seamless way. Aside from music, there will be on-chain playlists, curation/referrals (get paid to sell music on behalf of artists), direct wallet-to-wallet messaging, and of course, @TeiaCommunity's decentralized copyright licensing system that gives NFTs a reason to be a commodity to begin with. It's a lot to work on with the limited help that we have, but we're hoping to get teia.cafe v2 up and running by #Tezcon, June 28th. Stay tuned for updates! #Tezos

A (hopefully mild) critique of abstract art: If you don't know what the subject matter you're showing is, you're selling the confusion, not the art itself. It's a way to express the existential dissociation many feel living in modern societies, but these days that alone probably isn't enough to carry a piece all the way. Just my 2 cents.

Online, the only way to stay objective is to go on Google and click on the "Feeling Lucky?" button over and over - and use that solely as the source of where you're getting your information from. Everyone else is lying. Yes, that includes yourself, too. πŸ˜‚

Not surprising that Trump hates Brutalism - the style is all about functionality, efficiency, mindfully neutral, and more important of all - respecting the taxpayers by making the best use out of public funds. You could argue that @TeiaCommunity's aesthetic style is Brutalist, since both the platform and the community itself embodies those values above. It's the perfect antidote to the times we live in right now, really - I sincerely hope that more people come to realize this over time. https://www.washingtonian.com/2018/07/30/trump-and-the-dc-area-finally-agree-on-something-brutalism-is-bad/

The thing that could potentially change the world. Now we just gotta convince a few people to use it. Only on #Tezos. Only on TEIA.

Sold! I was shopping my #Cryptopunk around to a few places but rather than trying to get too greedy with it I decided to let it go at the current "floor price". Still, having originally bought it for $100 - the returns are not bad at all. πŸ˜‚ https://cryptopunks.app/cryptopunks/details/8973

The floor price is starting to creep up. #8973 is still for sale, btw - it's priced around where it needs to be, I'd say. https://cryptopunks.app/cryptopunks/details/8973 #cryptopunk #ethereum

Brian Eno: β€œwhatever you now find weird, ugly, uncomfortable and nasty about a new medium will surely become its signature. CD distortion, the jitteriness of digital video, the crap sound of 8-bit - all of these will be cherished and emulated as soon as they can be avoided. It’s the sound of failure: so much modern art is the sound of things going out of control, of a medium pushing to its limits and breaking apart.”

Copyright licensing is poised to be a $40B market by 2032. And NFTs need to be on the forefront of this sooner than later. https://substack.com/@ryangtanaka/note/c-82964127?r=gdbpp
