Funny thing is that my mom offered to help out financially with Tezcon when I mentioned that we were having issues getting artists paid. Funny, because my parents have never given me money for any of my crazy projects, even once, but as soon as someone else needs something, they are there. πŸ˜‚ One thing that Tezos doesn't sell enough, imo, is the fact that our community is very wholesome and "family friendly". That is a huge draw for people who don't identify as "degen" so it's just something to keep in mind. If you're gonna market, market the stuff people care about.

De-dollarization is that "something worse". But maybe America having to compete with other currencies or countries may just be the wake-up call that it needs right now. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/investor-predicted-2008-financial-crisis-163740903.html

A reminder that AI already controls Wall Street. I think the AI hype will end once this turns into a disaster. What's keeping teia.cafe alive? The cryptopunk I sold off a few months ago to give me some time and runway to finish up our v2, which is about to be released this summer. To me, art is supposed to make you think, feel something, or be "useful" for enhancing a vision or message someone wants to make. That was always the goal of NFTs, imo - it needs to be more than just a thing that sits around in your wallet. I have no regrets letting that one go.

This week's chart is sort of confusing for me because I'm on DCL and am a supporter of both $MANA and $XTZ. What does the two projects have in common? Verifiable, functioning governance models. If you go in their discord and governance pages you'll see that there is still a very large active community, including corporate participation. (By big name companies, too.) This may be a sign that some investors are starting to re-assess their portfolios and reallocate their money towards projects that they see as having more potential. The metaverse was a whole thing for a few years so they may be flocking there first. We're still just getting started, though. People laughed at me when I said that DAOs may be the trigger for the next bull run, because, well, if you're here to gamble and have a party, this stuff ain't exactly the most sexiest thing to talk about. But that party is over now - this is where what people are building really start to matter. πŸ‘€

I see threads is experimenting with using the fediverse now. Is this related to this site in some way? Are they connected?

A few sneak peeks at @TeiaCommunity / @TeiaArt's new copyright registration system about to go online this month. This is an easy way for artists to create licensing documentation (without the use of expensive lawyers) for their artworks that legally cannot be scraped, nor bought out, because it isn't owned by anyone and is 100% open-source. This is version 2 of the current registration system - the new one will allow creators to register works on other chains and even regular URLs as long as they can prove ownership/authorship of the works listed in the agreement itself. So there will be a reason for artists outside of the #Tezos ecosystem to use it, too!

#Tezos did not have a good week this week, even relative to the other projects in the crypto space. Do you see that bump in the middle? That's the (ill-gotten) gains from Trump's insider trading announcement, which gave almost every other coin a much-needed bump, whereas $XTZ stayed flat, and went down anyway on the following day. I'm going to argue again that this was a good thing, despite it not looking good on paper - what's happening right now is that institutional money is selling, and they're throwing out false positive news to try to lure retail investors to buy back in so that they can get the best prices as they sell it off as their expense. Tezos was one of the few communities that did not fall for it. The green numbers might make some people *feel* good, but in the long-run, they will end up losing more money than those who simply held.s much needed cleaning. And that moment is coming very close. πŸ“ˆ

So the market going down 50% and then back up 50% is 100 -> 50 -> 75. You are still losing money. This is why you should never base your opinions on the headlines or media hype.

In a nutshell, what this says is that Tezos is not willing to participate in silly manipulation games that are going on in the markets right now. Everyone else needed a gimmick to get a price boost, but $XTZ's price is reflective of it's real value and performance. It might be difficult for people to celebrate the price *not* going up, but this is actually a victory for the Tezos community for maintaining their integrity during these turbulent times. πŸ™ (The markets will likely crash tomorrow anyway. These are short-term pumps designed to extract money from retail investors while institutional funds continue to sell - oldest trick in the book.)

There is no tariff on American cars in Japan, btw. Did he consider that Japanese people don't buy American cars because they're just not as good? If that's what is driving their definition of "trade deficit", the US is in deep trouble. He's on TV rambling incoherently about a bunch of random topics right now. I'm getting the same cringe and sadness I did from watching Biden last year. 104%. We've officially gone off the deep end. 4 hours until the tariffs take effect. βŒ›

For the #Tezos folks - the best thing to do in the near term: If you own $XTZ, just hold. If you're DCA-ing, continue like always. It's still the winning strategy. *If you have cash, do NOT buy - wait until the market bottoms out. For holders like me, it's actually better if I shilled my coins at everyone's expense, but I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I knowingly threw people I knew and worked with into the fire. So this is an anti-shill message - do NOT buy. When will be the time to get back in? A good benchmark is when people like Warren Buffett or investors who have been accruing cash over the last few years start making moves. Until then, we have to wait until the system gets cleaned out - this will take a long time in stocks, but who knows - it could happen very quickly in crypto because it has less ties with traditional contracts, we don't know yet.

Oh-oh, the weekends are usually when crypto assets rallies, but it actually dipped this time, along with the stocks. But think about it - why do we even care about weekends to begin with? That's a Wall Street thing, not a crypto thing. Crypto is supposed to be 24/7! Guess it wasn't as decoupled as initially thought. Once again Tezos stays relatively stable, considering how much smaller it is, compared to other projects. That, and the generous staking rewards (now 13% I believe) arguably makes it the least-worse performing asset in the industry, aside from $ATOM. $XTZ's strength is that it's verifiably decentralized, and built for stability, not volatility. We may finally be entering an era where that actually gets respected, rather than ignored as was the case during the hype cycles where people were mindlessly chasing loose money. I hope people are ready to enjoy the roller coaster ride over these next few months. I've been ready for it for a long time. 😁
