Every Elon / MAGA fanboy should ask themselves: 

If Mark Cuban was the richest person on earth and had been behaving exactly like Elon for the past couple years but favoring democrats, and Harris had been talking about using the military against the "enemy within", and she won, how would you feel about it?

What would that actually look like? In terms of Cuban doing what Elon did but pro-Dem.

I don’t think a counterfactual is very useful here because it would change everything about that scenario if Dems were not the ones largely in control of the major institutions in the US for a long time. It’s not an even comparison.

Basically I’d take threats much more seriously when there is reason to believe somebody can actually execute

I agree its hard to visualize because it'd basically be the authoritarian Marxist depiction the most hardcore MAGA folks think they're seeing when they look at democrats. 

As for the the verbal threats, all it takes is a mentally deranged general like Michael Flynn willing to follow orders. There are many stories of officials needing to talk Trump out of insanely unconstitutional violent ideas during his first term.
