Creators aren’t just influencers anymore. They’re entrepreneurs building real businesses around their content, community, and brand. Just as traditional companies have learned to grow by operating on social, creators are flipping the script: launching businesses because of their social presence. And now, investors are paying attention. Megan Lightcap recently shared Slow Ventures' framework for evaluating creator-led startups. Their framework looks at: Creator: Does the creator operate like an entrepreneur? Community: Have they built a cult-like community? Capital: Are they a trusted expert in a high-value niche? Scale: Are they starting to scale monetization? These are smart filters. And creator tokens - onchain assets tied to a creator’s content and community - can help answer them. For context: creators can now launch tokens that represent the market value of their personal brand. Platforms like @zora let them tokenize posts and profiles. It’s early, but this is where the onchain creator economy is heading: Tokens are attention markets. Content captures attention. Creators are the content. It only makes sense that they’d have a market. Here’s how creator tokens sharpen Slow’s own framework: 1. Cult-like community: A creator coin shows who holds it, how much, and for how long. You’re not guessing who the true fans are, you can see them onchain. You get both the size and the strength of a community. 2. Monetization at scale: A token’s market cap is a direct measure of how valuable the creator is to the market. President Trump's coin sits around $9B FDV. That’s effectively what the market thinks his personal brand is worth. Creator capital markets may be early, but it’s the best time yet to be a creator-entrepreneur.
