I have also struggled with this since RPGF2 and it seems tautological to me. I also think the word “profit” is doing some heavy lifting; it codes for “do we think your costs were reasonable “

Only got to your first comment. Q response: Many people have the view that what makes something good is that someone didn't expect a reward. To that I just say we should at least permit a second category, call it "beneficial" which allows people to be rewarded. It's still good to save a life if you are a doctor
