Accused* honestly these people work so hard, dedicating their lives to their career for the pursuit of science, they deserve at the least our pause before running to conclusions about accusations like these regarding the already difficult job of navigating a potential divorce, and WHILE IN SPACE!

I think we should be worried about both. Russia and China have been fanning the flames through misinformation campaigns on both ends of the political spectrum. We don’t need to minimize that in order to also be aware of the power grabs by the intelligence community here.

I get the idea, but this is just so so wrong. If you have the unfortunate circumstance of not knowing people much smarter than you, experts in their field/craft, then you’re at a huge disadvantage in life. Courage can move hearts, but genius moves the world.

100% Fact 0% Opinion. It’s an interesting idea, but isn’t curation an act of expressing opinion? Even if only giving facts, which facts you choose to provide change the narrative, and therefore reflect an opinion, even if that opinion is open to interpretation. So how does /theindex grapple with this?

I’d love to be the only living thing on a planet. I’d like a supply of food, water, air, and perhaps ketamine for when I grow tired of it and want to leave the planet to its solitude.

Yeah, this is your hypothesis, based on the evidence you’ve just stated. To prove it is to make it certain, but we haven’t ruled out alternative cases. Even in physics you don’t prove something unless you’ve ruled out all alternative hypotheses.

Throughout the paper the idea that the winner only pays the winning bid is mentioned, but that’s not true in most cases. In order to get to the winning bid the lower bids need to be made. What if no one wants to bid because they know that bid will just become a donation?

One of the biggest problems in American healthcare is Wall St. owns the hospitals. Why? Because physicians are not allowed to own (new) hospitals and haven’t been able to for some time. Why? Because duties to both patients and shareholders is a conflict. Meanwhile Wall St.’s only duty is to shareholders…

Interested in the idea of an intellectual property marketplace funding early stage research into aerospace technologies, similar to Molecule, does anyone have an idea of the kinds of regulatory frameworks aerospace R&D contends with like ITAR due to its defense and dual use applications?

To be clear I’m not saying that regression to the mean is wrong—it’s a logical statistical deduction—but I just remembered this paraphrased quote and thought it all too fitting. The 2nd Law is the crux of statistical mechanics and the pattern of regression towards the mean is simply manifest in it.

“If someone points out that a theory disagrees with Maxwell's equations then so much the worse for Maxwell's equations. If contradicted by observation — well, these experimentalists do bungle things. But if found to violate the 2nd Law of TD there is nothing for it but to collapse in deepest humiliation.” TLDR

Depending on what you know about the compounds, you can use a few of the options others have mentioned. For example, if you know that the mixture contains molecules of various sizes, you can use a gel that retards speed through it proportionally to the size of the molecule! Chromatography is great for this.
