Idea for Twitter/FC Charge based on # of followers Up to 10k followers - free up to 100k - $100 / month up to 1M - $10,000 / month Every 10x in follower count, 100x the price Thoughts?

Interesting idea. If social graph is decentralized / on the protocol — what happens when another client decides “your margin is my opportunity?” Charging on follow count seems a bit more like tax instead of a fee for value / utility provided. Open to disagreement

the value of twitter for a creator is one thing: distribution distribution has costs. the more followers, the more costs IMO charging for distro is natural, and justified. also, it is already the norm (pay for google/facebook distro)

TLDR — agree 1/ Agree w/ the web2 analogy. To take it a bit deeper, FB charges for more distribution not for using the product per month. E.g. you can make a FB post, know it’ll _not_ go to _all_ your 1M followers organically and then pay to boost that post.

2/ Paying per month to use, while knowing all posts will then reach, is a subscription for constant boosting. I could see clients charging a subscription for constant boosting regardless of protocol implementation tbh (so agreeing with your higher level take).

3/ Would be an interesting experiment to run even for FB — pay $10k/month where all your posts are boosted. Seems cheap.
