why isn't Tesla buying Boston Dynamics if they want to get into worker robots?

Atlas seems to have solved some of these problems already and the company was last valued at $1.1B, both of which would make it a good target for Tesla? What am I missing?

Manufacturing part makes sense but wouldn't they get a headstart on the data and the engineering with what Atlas does already? Tesla is showing videos of the robot walking while Atlas was doing parkour a couple years back

coz its always been about the data and AI engineering. Not about building the robot.

Also they know a lot about how to do manufacturing. Boston doesnt.

Design and software at Apple. Also into AI, philosophy of mind, ethics.

At least from a software standpoint, I believe it’s using the same vision stack as the cars. The end goal seems to have a common model across all mobility (just as humans have).

I imagine it was harder to monetize than they thought and they didn’t want to get into the manufacturing business (at least back then)

and why did Google ever dare sell that gem of a company? 🤦‍♂️

it's better to buy one twitter than 44 boston dynamics

because twitter helps tesla shareholders more

because technology like this becomes a commodity.

Elon’s ego won’t permit to buy instead of building. Better to control everything from scratch with his team.
