Friend of mine just said “I’m really happy with my instagram feed” Assuming that she liked the aesthetic of her posts, I asked what she had on it And she said Moo Deng, otter videos, and the like. Somewhere we went from being proud of the profile feed we create to the algo feed we consume.

i find it very strange when i hear ppl comparing their for you pages and brag about the algorithm they've shaped through their consumption (╥_╥)

Very well expressed I remember Samantha or Ted once judged people on their Explore pages and this is entirely apposite: those pages comprise your most potent triggers and time sinks On one level it makes sense to be proud of it: you end up with the things you like best (in a base sense). But this level thoroughly misses the intention, which is to hack your mind.
