Seeing my genesis artifact on @rodeodotclub minted 7.24.24 being the first & one of only things @riotgoools / @elle collected made me smile with happiness & immediately tear up in sadness thinking about how all my favorite artists, chose peace & left or have remained & haven’t known peace since spring of 24 V.I.P. 🫂

(◕‿◕)♡ every time i think about writing about all the things that let me down the past few years, i kind of shut down. i don't particularly want to call out ppl/projects bc i know lots of good ppl who still work on those projects. they just went in a direction i could no longer follow and maybe that's more of a me thing anyways. better to just pursue peace if/where u can ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I understand. I feel the same way. If I was able to completely disconnect. I would have done so back in May. Since I’ve muted, unfollowed, but exposure still is forced onto my feed. Also feel the same about good people on teams going in not so great directions. My empathy is over tuned, so this all reminds me of passionate video game devs who have no say so, but still get attached to decisions of micro transactions. I make sure to just be transparently objective. Share honest feedback as a power user. Equal love & critical. It’s important in a new industry that’s also a bubble hugbox to be vocal w/o an agenda. This sector has just become very bad at PR & community. Can’t handle critical feedback. but it’s not just this industry, healthcare, gaming, policy, social, etc. weird times I can’t avoid being exposed to unless I’m allowed to fully unplug. Which I can’t. <3

yeah other ppl have their own reasons to go one way or another. i also have to accept that other ppl are doing things/going in directions that don't align with what i want to do. i may not agree with it but it's not up to me to decide where they want to go. all i can do is control my own path so i just try to make sure i'm on the one i want to be on ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ran of character limit. Haha. So it’s as simple this, it’s something any live service business will end up fail if they don’t recognize the importance of…. And you & are I are perfect example to show this applied and not just In theory. Passion VS Apathy. Both are valid, but from a business survival pov. The path to protect peace due to feeling unheard or misalignment resulted in the platforms were referring to losing your participation, as a creator, as a collector. My path is less peaceful, but I’m very active, w/o pause as both artist & collector. It’s verifiable consistency that helps add weight to any feedback being given. Which in live service is critically valuable for sustainability long term. This part doesn’t apply to just this space, but across all live service sectors, if you just focus on metrics, create a hugbox illusion & ignore the passionate long term users. Inflated numbers won’t save you long term. Honest feedback, even critical is a form of love :)

after all my experiences the past few years, i just feel like i've been giving feedback on how to climb a mountain to ppl were planning a scuba diving trip (๑>ᴗ<๑) can't help but feel like wasted time and effort on my part for misreading the situation

I completely understand, I came out of the gate in 1996 using my voice on records to shine light on the exploitive music industry while also leading by example spending the rest of life never letting that stop me from creating & releasing art without compromising or bending to those exploits, but I need to very clear, you didn’t misread, you, we were misled. The marketing was very clear & very intentional to draw in those of us who spent a lifetime battle this exploitative unescapable practices. I watch so many of younger artist & music friends give up their talents due to those pressures of false expectations. Being an unshakable spirit myself, in the regard I’ll never stop because of external forces. For me, I’d feel irresponsible, not using my voice now especially in a new industry I have so much onchain historic proof in, to do my best to counter the fake expectations being marketing so more creatives don’t fall for the bait only to let it dim their light 🫂

the thing is – i think u can use the same general language to describe both a mountaineering and a deep sea diving adventure even tho they are going in opposite directions. u just have to leave out some specific details. neither are wrong but they are different directions. at this point in my life, i'd rather not devote my voice and energy to a scuba trip that i never wanted to be on when i can instead redirect all that towards a mountain climbing trip. even tho i have "scuba diving" friends, getting myself caught up in that world actually takes me farther away from the place i really want to be. i just kept asking myself why am i investing all my resources in scuba diving and promoting diving products when my heart is in the mountains (⌒_⌒;)

Neither are wrong, and I’d say the mountain is better route all around. I’d recommend most take that route In general. I miss seeing your stuff, but I value your peace & made sure we exchanged emails so I can see your next climb, My response was basically trying to convey that companies that don’t appreciate their active divers, even if they don’t wanna hear about the defective scuba tanks, eventually attrition wins, and everyone chooses the mountain or anywhere else other than diving. And because these scuba classes choice art to be their lure for their bait and switch, I don’t mind disrupting my own peace in the ocean for the time being because it uniquely fits my multi decade artist lore anyway. If it didn’t I’d be heading toward the mountain myself, until then searching for mountains under sea haha <3

i think most ppl probably just choose sea level rather than extreme depths or elevations (⌒_⌒;) there u don't need much special equipment to breathe and survive like u do at the bottom of the sea or the peak of a mountain but yeah, the aspect about the companies – i'd rather not enter back into the weird relationship of producing my work for the furtherance of things i don't align with. that's what it was feeling like. that's the web 2.0 exploitation model i was trying to escape
