So apparently Japan changed their money over the summer and I almost lost it at the ATM and had to stand there googling it like an idiot to make sure I wasn’t crazy. Top is new. I’m loving the wave on the back. Can’t wait to get more change and see what the other notes look like in person. Japan used to be very cash heavy, covid helped accelerate touch-less credit cards but most small businesses and temples are still cash. It’s strange because IC cards (electronic transit cards) are useable at most vending machines so I’m always caught off guard when I can’t pay with it and thrilled when I can unexpectedly. Now that I can reload my card with Apple Pay I rarely go to the ATM.

The credit card machine was down at a store that I went to this weekend and joked with the store staff that they should accept eth, but they were only taking cash and paypay haha.

Hahahaha! That would be epic. Pay Pay seems so cool but not for forigners. Honestly, I should grab all of your point cards and give you all the points. They are so hard to sign up for now and no one takes my old hard copy ones!
