I had such a weird encounter at work today. A colleague who knows I am into crypto, started asking me about coins (which she is invested in as well)

Generic, vanilla questions that almost anyone could answer. I still tried to answer as nuanced as possible.

With every answer I gave, it became painfully obvious, that she didn't listen at all. She just waited to tell her even lesser informed takes on the subject she had just asked me about.

I could see the confusion in her eyes, when I switched to one word answers. I'll probably not engage with her again.

How do you handle faked interest?

Depends on how well I know the person and my read of them. If the convo starts off with XRP, ADA, or HEX then I simply say I just dollar cost average into BTC and ETH.

If they ask good questions or are someone I find trustworthy, I'll open up a little more.

Sounds like in this situation it's the former. Don't find yourself to blame when it all blows up
