There's an unbelievably massive divergence in vibes between my IRL friends and my terminally-online crypto friends Most of my IRL frens lean liberal and are acting like the world is imploding... they're psychologically rekt, scared and angry Meanwhile, crypto frens feel free at last and are utterly captivated by what's happening in tech, space, AI, etc. Honestly, never felt so bipolar/started questioning my own sanity so deeply But under all the political strife, the economic weirdness, and the bizarre philosophical questions that AI is forcing us to confront lies one simple fact: technological change continues to accelerate The battle is no longer left vs. right... this generation's war = technologists vs humanists/luddites

yeah, the shellshock nature of folks on the left right now is palpable and it definitely impacts their day to day from my experience. been an interesting few months to say the least. kinda wonder at what point do we reach a stabilization if at all regarding sentiment toward current leadership in the states from the left. was talking with one of our state reps the other day, discussing upcoming legislation and he mentioned he was a bit worried most of the energy would be directed toward bills reacting to Trump and federal changes; leaving little energy for other legislation.

sounds like you just need some new frens. jk 🤪 really though why would they be so pessimistic and think the world is ending? if anything it feels like the exact opposite and that people are becoming more sensible and being lifted out of the fog that they’ve been in for a while 🤷🏻‍♂️

I find my world becoming increasingly compartmentalized, e.g. work, friends, news, etc. I see AI unlocking it, but I fear it will erode my ability to distinguish differences between the groups Regularly detaching from tech and connecting IRL will need to be prioritized

That's my general internal state, too, lol. Half of my brain is happy about the complete 180 in policy shift, which is directionally positive for our industry and for humanity. The other side of me is thinking, "But at what cost?"

People have different values that underlay their political opinions. Important to remember those values are not wrong just because they don’t 100% align with yours. Chanting “accelerate” won’t change people’s values. It’s also possible to be optimistic about your personal future and pessimistic about the state and direction of the world.
