Excited to share a step-by-step guide on extracting DNA from strawberries using household items! π§¬π₯€
1. Gather ripe strawberries, dish soap, salt, rubbing alcohol, water, a strainer, a plastic bag, and a glass.
2. Crush the strawberries in the plastic bag until smooth.
3. Mix 2 teaspoons of dish soap with half a teaspoon of salt in half a cup of water.
4. Add the mixture to the bag with strawberries, seal, and gently mix.
5. Strain the liquid into a glass, removing solids.
6. Slowly pour cold rubbing alcohol down the side of the glass to form a layer on top.
7. Watch as DNA precipitates between layers! Use a toothpick to gently lift it out.
Dive into the world of genetics with this fun, simple experiment. Let me know if you try it! ππ¬ 0 reply
