I don't know for sure, but I imagine these comments come primarily from heavy internet users, especially those familiar with the constant spam on other platforms. Many feel it's unrealistic to imagine a spam-free internet platform, and to be fair, even in 2024, we all still get spam texts, calls, and emails. So, forcing real users to deal with added friction when posting in channels feels neither fair nor justified. The core issue is that the platform’s incentives—through no fault of the Merkle team—favor those posting low-quality content in popular channels, making channels feel like "first class" spaces. This creates a divide between channel owners, developers, qDAUs, and everyone else, the majority of whom simply want fair access to the same incentives. 1 reply
