my current political hot take is that Obama was actually a bad president. he is the standard bearer for the modern Democratic Party failures: a party that promises hope and change but is so beholden to corporate interest and institutions that it can’t actually achieve it’s stated goals

I loved the guy at the time, I went to his acceptance speech in Grant Park. It was magical! He's from Chicago, I'm from Chicago. He was active in the community, he was an organizer, an activist.  I was like "hot dog, awesome! Things are going to finally change!". 

It was the biggest wet fart of a presidency I can think of.  Absolutely nothing changed.

I've always been pretty Left, but it was probably Obama that truly solidified me as a Leftist.
