It happens to me all the time that relationships stop as soon as we try to get serious and meet the parents. I have a higher education, no bad habits, I work at a good job. I earned a lot by the time I was 30. But I have a dysfunctional family. My father has a criminal record, not very serious, but still. He also drinks. My mom is co-dependent, tolerates all the abusive behavior of my father, she doesn't drink, but she is completely immersed in trying to get my father out of it.
Parents have a pressurized environment at home, poor furnishings and tons of bottles every day. Guys are intimidated by that kind of “baggage” and I understand.
